Cons: None
He is an awesome teacher. His way of articulating ideas amazes me. He is definitely in his element as he speaks about architecture. He expresses himself very clearly. I can appreciate his positive feedback. He never puts you down and always gives you guidance. Overall a GREAT person and mentor!
Cons: Hard ass grader
He only will give on or 2 A's so if you want the grade go with somone else. Awasome guy, great teacher. You actually learn
passionate
very patient
Cons: Grade based on his design
Ben is a very approachable professor and that is what I like about him. He will take time and explains how you can improve your design. He teaches you based on how much you want to learn. You can talk to him about practically anything. He is clear on what he wants. The only CONS about Ben would be that he will tell you to design however the way you want but he would grade the design based on his "less is more" motto. Other than that, he is one of the MUST take professor.
Cons: For the final project which determined our group's final grade. We had an idea for the project and Behn approved. But during the review of the final project, other instructors didn't like out project. But we thought that was ok because as long as we followed what Behn wanted, we would get a good grade. However, Behn didn't wanna look bad and tells us straight up that we didn't perform as expected even thought we did exactly what he wanted. I emailed him after asking why and he never replied. We ended up getting a B-
Cons: He only sees potential in some projects if he doesnt see it in yours he tells you nicely to abandon ship
Great teacher he believes in doing things different but yet simple in essence and practical. He is a teacher that encourages form and then making it funtional. He owns a small firm and is very proud of his projects. He very smart in a practical and has great common sense. He has great ideas in solving issues in a student's design. I find him very helpful to bounce ideas off of. Sometimes he isnt clear but just ask for clarification. He approachable and easy to talk to.
Cons: Shows up late to class.
Meet all your deadlines and do your best and you will do very well in his class.
However, he is a tough grader. Last year only 1 person received an A and their work was extraordinary. I think only 1 person got an A this quarter as well. If you want to shoot for it, the top student in the class has a chance to intern at his studio.
Sometimes I feel that I could have gotten an A with another professor and that taking Behn's class ruined my GPA. But I think he really pushed our creative minds and inspired us to produce beautiful work. I think we've grown a lot from this class. Taking Behn's class will be worthwhile, although it will come at the cost of your grade. Grade Received: B+
